2015 New Works Residencies

The Harvestworks Artist-in-Residence Program is pleased to announce our 2015 recipients. The recipients are commissioned to create a new work in the Harvestworks TEAM (Technology, Engineering, Art and Music) Lab. The applications were reviewed by composer Miya Masaoka, media artist Art Jones and technologist Daniel Belquer with support from Harvestworks Director and New York Electronic Art Festival Producer Carol Parkinson. [Mar 4 – 9] Brendan Fernandes: “(buli)” / “Still move”

Harvestworks Digital Media Art Center presents visual artist, Brendan Fernandes, to show his multi-channel moving image work “(buli)” along with his recent video work, “Still move”. “(buli)” explores barriers and codes that language creates through the lens of ethnicity, using a Dadaist style of repetition and nonsensicality . “Still move” – Taking inspiration from the notion of stillness these abstract videos capturing the body in motion create a contemplative and ephemeral space. [Jan 23] Frank Rothkamm: The Wiener Process – A Technology and Philosophy

The “Wiener Process” is a 24 hour computer music work initially developed as an antidote to Frank Rothkamm’s 2010 diagnosis of the brain processing disorder Tinnitus. Completed in 2014, the “Wiener Process” is a nod to the mathematician and philosopher, Norbert Wiener. This lecture aims to introduce the audience to the mind-boggling world of sound, time and uncertainty.
