Many years ago, when listening to a shortwave radio, Michelle fell into the hypnotic attraction of Coordinated Universal Time - broadcast around the clock and around the world since W.W.I as a tool to coordinate allied military activity. The young, efficient military voice announcing each minute of every hour had such a confident tone of world dominance and wold war vigilance, like a foreshadowing of the New World Order. Big brother was keeping time for us... Edward Robert Sosnick, one of Kinney's favorite humans, died suddenly last summer in a strange burst of accelerated time. Movement #2, C.U.T. for E.R.S. is a requiem for him, and a meditation on the illusion that time actually exists as something over which we can exercise our will, harness into a system, or use to our advantage like a commodity. |
