Harvestworks is an experimental production space where independent ideas become realized. We exist to support artists by giving them the time, tools, and collaborators needed to create new work. The organization has supported over 14,000 artists and counting.
Mission
Harvestworks is a research- and residency-based laboratory that assists artists in using technology to create new works. Our mission is to support the creation and presentation of art works achieved through the innovative use of new and emerging technologies and to diversify access to artistic tools required for working creatively in the field. Our goals are to create an environment that supports and advances experimental practice. We create a responsive context for the appreciation of new work through public presentation and bring together innovative practitioners from all branches of the arts collaborating in the use of emerging technologies.
History
Harvestworks is a leader in the field, educating, commissioning and producing work by sound, visual and multi-disciplinary artists that reach an ever-expanding and receptive audience. Harvestworks is a 501c3 non-profit arts organization established in 1977. Our history, past and present, is a record of artists’ impact on the ways technology is integrated into contemporary artistic practice. Harvestworks acts as a producer to help identify labor needs and organize the team for a project as well as offering advice on funding and distribution, acting as fiscal agent where necessary and forming partnerships with research facilities or independent experts in the field.
