Artists in Residence [AIR]

The Harvestworks Artists-in-Residence Program (AIR) supports contemporary artists creating innovative projects at the intersection of art and technology. The program provides a commissioned residency that includes financial support, access to Harvestworks’ T.E.A.M. (Technology, Engineering, Art and Music) Lab, and hands-on technical mentorship. Artists develop new works using tools such as sound, media, data, performance, and emerging technologies. Residencies emphasize experimentation, research, and process-driven creation in a collaborative studio environment. Completed projects are shared through public performances, exhibitions, or presentations, connecting artists with new audiences.

Harvestworks, through its Artist-in-Residence Program, has supported many extraordinary artists working across sound, video, media, and experimental technology. Notable residents include Julius Eastman (1980), Pauline Oliveros (1980s), John Cage (1988), Christian Marclay (1990), Laetitia Sonami (1991, 2001), Ikue Mori (1990s), Yasunao Tone (1993), Miya Masaoka (1997, 2021), Pamela Z (1999, 2019), Maryanne Amacher (2000), R.
