Harvestworks Art and Technology Program

Nolan Park, Building 10a
Governor’s Island, NYC

In the context of their joint research in the healing properties of music in electro-acoustic music performance, Rashaan Carter, Anaïs Maviel & Mimi A. invite you to join their work-in-progress immersive sound bath and binaural beats bouquet. At sunset, they invite you to experience meditative, minimalist and texturally rich music made of electric & acoustic bass, modular synthesizers, harmonium, percussion, singing bowls and voice in Nolan Park at Governors Island. Open to all ages, bring blankets.

Anaïs Maviel is a multidisciplinary artist whose work transforms spiritual concepts into immersive sensory experience, treating perception itself as a medium. A composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, she works across traditional and experimental practices to explore the power of sound to shape reality and highlight the stakes of cultural multiplicity.

Rashaan Carter worked and gained experience in the local scene in Washington D.C. and after high school, moved to New York City to attend the New School University. Rashaan regularly performs with a myriad of artists in and outside of New York and can be found on various recordings as well.

Mimi is a sound artist whose practice lies at the intersection of experimental/improvised music and audio art. Interested in deconstructing and remodeling sonic material, she assembles mixed sources [synthesis, voice, field recording] into new immersive weavings. Her creative process involves chance/random layering as well as methodical/algorithmic processes, aiming to promote the interplay between logic and ambiguity.
