As part of Outside Linear Time, join curator Paula Vilaplana for a conversation with artists Itziar Barrio and Sara Stern on Governors Island. Beginning at 2 PM with Barrio’s The moment when you stop looking for them and continuing to Stern’s MARSH, the group will move through the exhibition together, engaging with the works in situ.

Through dialogue and close looking, the artists and curator will explore questions of technology, ecology, transformation, and non-linear time. From Barrio’s speculative installation examining algorithms, materiality, and the relationship between ancient philosophy and emerging technologies, to Stern’s stop-motion ecological opera set within the shifting landscape of a Provincetown salt marsh, the conversation will consider how both works challenge human-centered perspectives and imagine alternative ways of understanding our changing world.
