Christina Fuchs – composer and saxophonist/clarinetist – studied composition with Joachim Ullrich and Siegfried Koepf in Cologne, with Maria Schneider and Jim McNeely in New York, and with George Russell in Boston. She works as a composer, saxophonist, and clarinetist in a wide variety of ensembles spanning the fields of new music, theater, improvised music, and jazz. Over the past 35 years, she has developed a distinctive sound and her own musical language in her compositions. Her musical work encompasses traditional concert formats as well as collaborations with other art forms such as dance, literature, film, theater, and performance. All these forms are united by a constant effort to fuse composed and improvised music.
