New Waves

May 17 to August 18, 2024. Fri, Sat and Sun from 11 am to 5 pm. New Waves in Art and Tech. A group exhibition of studies in human perception via artworks that explore privacy, brain-computer interfaces, climate and fungal networks, Artificial Intelligence and themes of air, flying and floating.

Artists include Adelle Lin and Matt Pinner, Monica de la Torre and Hans Tammen, Tansy Xiao, Gisela Gamper, Ahmed El Shaer and Judy Dunaway

Saturday Aug 17, 2024. The Harvestworks Art and Technology Program announces four events for the Governors Island Arts series Third Saturdays and House Fest in Nolan Park. All events are free.

4:30 pm Judy Dunaway will perform solo free improvisations on amplified latex balloons. OUTDOORS – House Fest Stage in Nolan Park

5:15 pm Star CatcherAdelle Lin and Matt Pinner collaborate with the dancer-choreographer Dharma Esmat. INDOORS @ Harvestworks in Building 10a, Nolan Park

Noon to 6:30 pm – Ai Onoda plays Satie’s “Vexation”, a piano piece composed by Erik Satie (1866-1925). This piece is about one minute long and is repeated 840 times, and takes about 20 hours to play it through. Please note: Onoda may move around in places during the day performance in an attempt to perform it for extended duration. House Fest Stage in Nolan Park @ 6 pm OUTDOORS. FREE
6:30 pm @ House Fest Stage in Nolan Park. Inspired by safety guidance from the Governors Island Ferry, Grace Schmidhauser and Jay Reinier create a duo with found objects, radio waves, and misdirections.
