[Feb 19] Real Time Media: Jason & Debora Bernagozzi and Ivan Marusic Klif

Real Time Media will feature two live audio/visual work by Signal Culture co-founders Jason & Debora Bernagozzi and toolmaker in residence Ivan Marusic Klif (Zagreb, Croatia) followed by a Q&A session. Jason & Debora Bernagozzi are performing “Ritual for Hybrid Media” where the artists are exploring fluidity of signal using custom software and a handbuilt color wobbulator. Ivan Marusic Klif will be performing Scope Study, showcasing research in hybrid analog-digital AV instruments with the goal of digital control of an analog oscilloscope using audio and VGA outputs from a computer.

BIOS

Jason Bernagozzi is a video, sound and new media artist living and working in upstate New York and is the co-founder of the experimental media arts non-profit Signal Culture. His work has been featured nationally and internationally at venues such as the European Media Arts Festival in Osnabruk, Germany, the LOOP Video Art Festival in Barcelona, Spain, the Beyond/In Western NY Biennial in Buffalo, NY, and the Yan Gerber International Arts Festival in Hebei Province, China. His work has received several awards including grants from the New York State Council for the Arts, free103point9 and the ARTS Council for the Southern Finger Lakes

Debora Bernagozzi is a video artist and photographer. She received her BFA in Video from the Atlanta College of Art in 1999 and her MFA in Electronic Integrated Art from Alfred University in 2002. Her work has been exhibited in the US and internationally. She participated in repeated residencies at the Experimental Television Center and was awarded a Regional Artist Access Residency from Squeaky Wheel Media Arts Center. Bernagozzi and her husband were honored to be artists in residence in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in January 2012, co-sponsored by the Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film and Video Festival and Multimedia University.

Ivan Marušić Klif (b. 1969) is a multimedia artist from Zagreb, Croatia who works primarily in the field of interactive video installations. His interests include kinetic, light and video installations, sound, music and performance. He collaborates widely with other artists, primarily in theatre productions, and musicians working in audio-visual cross disciplinary performances. Main technological focus of his recent work is controlling analog equipment using computers – current toolset includes wobbulators, variety of video mixers, pan-tilt cameras, matrix switchers, LZX video modular, etc. He is also involved in organizing and teaching through extensive workshops, hack labs, media labs and academic institutions.
