[May 4] TIP Workshop “Exploring Projection Mapping and Sound Sonification” by Ivana Dama

This hands-on session is designed to explore the capabilities of Adobe After Effects’ projection mapping tools. We will learn how to project video content onto physical objects. The second half of the workshop will focus on sound sonification using Ableton and Processing, where we will explore various tools to incorporate data to generate sound.

DATES AND TIMES: Saturday May 4, 2024 from 2 – 4 pm

LOCATION: Harvestworks 596 Broadway Suite 602 New York NY 10012 @Houston Street

This workshop will teach attendees how to use the Ableton Connection Kit to connect and control a range of different technologies and communication protocols. It is a versatile platform well-suited for artists, musicians, and designers who want to experiment with new and innovative ways of working. Participants will learn the basics of connecting and controlling various elements in their projects. They will discover how to monitor the performance of their projects and make adjustments to enhance their creations. Additionally, attendees will learn how to use webcam data to control mappable parameters, adding an interactive and dynamic element to their projects. This feature opens up new possibilities for artists to create projects that respond to real-time inputs and environments.

Ivana is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Sculpture at Yale University, and holds a degree in Media Arts and Digital Humanities from UCLA’s School of Arts and Architecture. Through her work, Ivana explores how sounds behave in different environments, including experiments with vacuum, water, and outer space.
