Using scientific inquiry and historical analysis, Where Do We Go From Here? is a multi-channel video installation that combines hand-drawn animations, high-definition video, and sound recordings of the Minnesota landscape to imagine what the future may hold. These videos and images represent the work-in-progress.

The installation will be comprised of:

1) Curved walls built around the perimeter of the room to create a seamless projection screen
2) 270-360 degree video projection of filmed footage of the Mississippi River Valley over-laid by animated drawings
3) Audio installation using found and field recordings
4) Ink, pencil, and watercolor murals beneath the video projection
5) Interactive media station

Bio

Kelley A. Meister constructs interdisciplinary, multimedia installations that fuse sculpture, printmaking, and drawing with time-based media such as video, sound-manipulation, and performative experience. Through the use of a rough, hand-made aesthetic, she strives to create work where the architectural seams are made transparent to the audience. Kelley works as a teaching artist in schools around the state through COMPAS and in the Science Museum of Minnesota’s Learning Technology Center. She teaches stop-motion animation, documentary and narrative filmmaking, digital photography, computer game design, and photographic printmaking. Kelley’s artwork has been shown around the country and abroad in galleries, theatres, online, on the streets, and in impromptu art-spaces.
“There’s a charming naiveté to Kell[e]y Meister’s digital-collage video “Where Do We Go From Here?” in which drawings of animals (dogs, beaver, bunnies, birds) race through a watercolor wilderness intercut with waterfall footage and drawings of increasingly polluted cities. The rough production values are a good fit with critters in desperate search of a haven.” from: .startribune.com
