The works are specifically composed to be presented through loudspeakers, without a performer, at Harvestworks these works will be presented in a darkened room, allowing for better experiencing the sonic subtleties. [Video] Noble Blatant Lies: Splintered AV Chaos through 3D Glasses

Jeff Noble joins Blatant Lies (Adam Rokhsar and Hans Tammen) bringing edgy motion sensing of audio and 3D video to their visceral blast of modular synths and smartphone samples. Blatant Lies is a battle of analog and digital sounds as Hans Tammen and Adam Rokhsar use modular synths and the sensors hidden in smart phones to make a new form of rhythmic contortion. [Dec 17] Drone Procedures and Auditory Driving: Unlocking the Deep Mind

Musical drones have been used as a device in indigenous cultures to induce hypnogogic trances for centuries. More recently, pulses, or beating tones, created through closely tuned drones have been proven through scientific testing to entrain brainwaves into desirable meditative states. Composer David First and Kate Henderson, licensed acupuncturist and drummer, have successfully combined these therapies to facilitate a healing ‘window’. Continue reading

[Dec 4 – Jan 8] Telephone Rewired at Pocket Gallery

Telephone Rewired is an audiovisual installation that probes and modulates human consciousness by rhythmically entraining neuronal oscillations in the brain to impact cognition. The installation stimulates the viewer’s endogenous brain waveforms into beta (focused attention), theta (deep relaxation), and alpha (calm awareness). After viewers don an electroencephalography (EEG) monitor, their brain rhythms synchronize into a neurofeedback loop and they enter the era of augmented cognition. Continue reading
