[Oct 11-13] Tim Fodness: Untitled Suggestions + So It Goes

This installation consists of three pieces. Untitled #1, Untitled #2, and So It Goes… The two pieces labeled as Untitled were composed using a technique that exploits a strict, rigid, and selfish plan in order to create totally new, loose compositions that induce a “book reading” experience in which the listener’s imagination is called upon to paint it’s own visual picture. So It Goes… is a piece comprised of short loops pitched to create musical “chords” that loop at different speeds within a set time frame. The “chords” fade in and out of one another to create the feeling that they are “unstuck” in time. Continue reading

Animations are projected on stage with the performers, responding to their sounds and constituting a key element in a three way barb-fest. With former Harvestworks Artist In Residence Bill Hsu, Birgit Ulher and Andrew Drury. Continue reading

[Sep 23] Embodied Cognition, Complexity Theory & the Future of Bio-Adaptive Games

Our current technologies, namely the Internet and mobile devices, are numbing our biological self through a form of what Marshall McLuhan referred to as “self-amputation.” Part demonstration, part design fiction, part collaborative think tank, this session will be a creative exploration of how embodied, bio-adaptive games and multi-media art practices can recuperate the biological self by re-activating the peripheral nervous system to enhance our social-emotional attunement. Continue reading

[Sep 20] Drone Clone – Frost, Cloud and Hunt

Drone Clone returns to Harvestworks with a new multichannel work. It will weave found sound, guitar and live processing using electronic and analog textures to create moving stories about nostalgia, disappearing landscapes and memory. Drone Clone is extremely interested in the ephemeral nature of our daily lives and the topography of experience. The sonic landscapes constructed throughout the performance will aim to mimic the decay and transiency present in our cognitive states. Continue reading

[Audio] Hell Hoarse in Quad!

Hell Hoarse is Chuck Bettis on electronics (aka self-built max patch + a bunch of controllers) and Brendan Murray on electronics (aka computer and/or analog electronics, depending on his mood).
